Many of my dads paintings capture the atmosphere of daily life South Yorkshire in the days when Coal Mines were the dominant factor in life. He painted the things he knew in a simple and direct way whether in watercolour or oil paint.

He also took a great interest in print-making and book illustration, I am particularly fond of some of his early woodcuts
